Choosing gear:
In the mechanical speedometer at VW, either the standard gears M11 to M25 can be installed or the VW-specific VW11 or VW12 tooth wheels:
VW11 = 11 teeth (for mile axis)

A notice:
We advise against buying other used speedometers, it is only a matter of time until the gear breaks here too. Better save twice the costs and effort and exchange the gear. So you continue to have the original kilometer/mileage.

If you disassemble the speedometer in advance, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grab the speedometer needle in the middle and turn clockwise. Pull lightly. Friction is everything the needle keeps on the wave.
