Hand brake ropes are used in the parking brake for mechanical power transmission. Depending on the installation position, the Bowden coaches are subject to external weather conditions and possibly stone chips. This often leads to corrosion on the hand brake cable if the coating or a wrinkle balg is damaged.
Grinding noises and increased heat development are often indications of a defective handbrake rope.
When changing the handbrake ropes, it should be noted that at least two handbrake ropes are installed in vehicles with a mechanical parking brake.
